Cancel Culture. Social Media Bullying.

I’m excited to share with you my talk with author, speaker, and podcast host Lisa Whittle. This is about a topic I’ve never shared before – the lie that it’s our job to call people out. In this episode we’re discussing cancel culture, how to post on social media without falling into the trap of bullying, the cost of seeking popularity, and the desire for Jesus over social media followers.

Points from today’s discussion It’s My Job To Call People Out:

cancel culture

Our fear of getting things wrong often leads us to remain silent, which is exactly what the devil wants.

Before you post, determine your goal, motive, and what you believe.

Ask yourself, “Is this a reaction or a prayed over response?” and “Is this about me or a cause that will point people to Jesus?”

You should never be pressured into responding to hot topics. Consider your track record and determine if this is a topic you are convicted about or have authority to speak on. Show consistency in your message.

Cancel culture and social media bullying is increasing as our misery is coming out of our fingertips.

“The standard of measure that we give we should be expected to hold that same measure.”

We are not the judge. Therefore, we are called to give grace because we have been given grace through Jesus. It doesn’t negate the desire for justice or accountability.

If you worry too much about what other people think, “you’ll be so affected that you’re never effective.”

Continue to remember what you’re here for and also what God has called you to.

Combat the lie that you’re not good enough with love for the Father. When we pursue Him, we don’t carry guilt or think of ourselves.
