Develop a Personal Relationship with God
Do you feel like your walk with Christ is more like a list of requirements and rules and less like an intimate relationship with a loving God? In this episode, I’m talking with Dr. LaTanya Moore. We are talking about how we can develop a personal relationship with God and also how to stop marking to-do items off our Christian checklist and develop a genuine and deep relationship with Christ.
Key points from our conversation how to Develop a Personal Relationship with God:
Religion hinders us from forming a relationship with God. Hence, religion looks like routine and rules. A relationship with God exists outside of service. In fact, intimacy and relationship allow you get to know His character.
Above all, when we develop an intimate relationship with Christ, we begin to understand His character. Once we understand who He is, He also begins to guide our works. However, we will never develop a relationship with God through works.
Qualities of a healthy relationship include communication, trust built through consistency, quality time, vulnerability, and also obedience. “When He trusts you, He’ll entrust you.
When you understand your Heavenly Father is different from your earthly father, He’ll show you new characteristics of a father.
If you want to learn the characteristics of God, learn the names of God. Jehovah Rapha (The Lord That Heals), Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide), and Jehovah Shalom (The Lord Is Peace) are a few.
Knowing we are made in His image. we are not meant to compare ourselves with others.
Building a relationship with God enables you to walk in your true identity.
Don’t worry about doing it wrong. Therefore, start praying and reading His Word.
