I think this is one of the biggest lies we are faced with today. A lie that can also be hard to confront. The lie that says I can’t control how I feel keeps us on an emotional roller coaster that God doesn’t require us to ride. I am here to share with you that you can control your feelings!

The goal of this lie, I can’t control what I feel, is to bring awareness to the fact that you can begin to choose and control how you feel despite what is happening around you. Saying, “I can’t control how I feel,” puts how we feel above God’s word.

I talk about biblical emotional stability versus secular emotional stability.

How our bodies hold our stories and are interpreted by our emotions.

Emotions tell your body what to feel. Biblical emotional stability begins when despite what you feel you ask God to show you what He calls you to do with what you feel.

Feelings are not facts and they are not the absolute truth either.

Our emotions may be a response but our feelings become a choice.

It’s easy to think we don’t have control therefore we dismiss the responsibility for them.

Change doesn’t control. Changing something in your life doesn’t mean your emotions surrounding it will then become controlled.

Feelings can blur our sense of right or wrong.

God doesn’t choose for us but He shows us how to choose. He shows you that you can control your feelings!

At the end of this episode, I share 5 tips to get you moving toward controlling your emotions.

I want to remind you that God is not expecting you to be perfect and get it right all the time. However, I do believe He is calling His children higher. Higher, with our eyes up and not down at our shame.
